Students

Welcome to The Tribe.

Our mission is for every student to understand that they have a family that is here to love and support them through the journey we call life. Our Tribe is a group of people who love Jesus and love people.

What is the Tribe?

At Mt Vernon Church, our Student Ministry is dedicated to empowering students to become leaders and disciples for the glory of Jesus. We focus on creating engaging, gospel-centered environments where students can find community, build meaningful relationships, and deepen their understanding of the gospel. This is your Tribe.

Who We Are

We Are Community.

Rather than sitting around and waiting until Jesus comes back or doing church out of a sense of history and tradition, we’re creating irresistible environments and events that connect with students. Society is starved for true community. We were created to do life together and wired to live in community.

We Are Game Changers.

We intentionally lift our eyes to the horizon and look for those needing to hear about Jesus. In a world infected with hopelessness, we want to extravagantly share the hope that comes through faith in Jesus. We have hope because we have Jesus. You can belong. You can overcome. You have a purpose.

Midweek Service

Our Tribe gathers on Wednesday nights in the Welcome Center for our midweek service, where we intentionally guide our 6th-12th grade students in spiritual growth. We focus on two key elements: worship and learning from God’s Word. The service runs from 6:15 to 8:00 PM, with doors opening at 6:00 PM. Middle schoolers will meet in the main sanctuary while high schoolers head to life groups in the fellowship center, and then the two groups will switch at 7:00 PM.

Sunday Groups

Mt Vernon Church is passionate about seeing students become leaders of today and tomorrow as they follow Jesus. On Sunday mornings we encourage students to worship with their families, find ways to serve at Mt Vernon Church, and connect with others in a student Life Group starting at 9:30 in the Fellowship Center.

How can I volunteer to serve with Students?
We’re always looking for Godly men and women to invest time and energy into discipling our students.

It’s important to note that anyone who serves in Student Ministry has to complete our onboarding process which includes a background check to ensure the safety of our students. To start that process, click here.
How do you prioritize the safety of students?
We recognize that God has entrusted us with the safety of students while they’re in our care, and we prioritize their well-being. Each Students environment is supervised by multiple volunteers who have undergone an in-person interview and background check. For our Wednesday night service, we have an off-duty police officer on site to ensure a safe and welcoming environment along with members of our Security Team. If you have any additional questions regarding the practices or policies surrounding students’ safety, please reach out by clicking here.
