Kids Ministry at Mt Vernon

Creating a safe space for children to experience the love of God and grow in their understanding of His word.

What is Kids Ministry?

At Mt. Vernon, our Kids Ministry is dedicated to partnering with parents to teach children to love God, their neighbors, and the church—all while learning about the Bible and its teachings. We partner with parents in introducing the love of Jesus to their kids! We want to help your child discover God no matter their age!

What We Do.

Each Sunday, your children will learn the message of the Bible and how it points them to Jesus in an age-appropriate way. The lessons are fun and are taught by committed volunteers and staff who serve Jesus by serving you and your kids. We also seek to help equip families to disciple their children in the gospel throughout the week with resources like our weekly family guides and interactive social media content.

A Place For Everyone.

Discovery Zone

Birth to Pre-K
Discovery Zone is a safe, loving, and fun-filled ministry for preschoolers. It is designed to introduce young children to the love of God through age-appropriate teaching and hands-on activities. Volunteers who serve in DZ are committed to creating an environment where learning about God and his world becomes a natural part of life. We love seeing kids develop into young followers of Jesus. We have well-defined security and health policies to ensure a consistently safe environment.

Kid Zone

K - 3rd Grade
KidZone is a fun and exciting worship experience. Our environment is designed with attention to every detail. Kids learn through the use of fun object lessons, engaging skits, up-beat music, video, and small group interaction. Our committed leaders and volunteers teach spiritual truths kids can use in their daily lives. Our goal is to help kids take next steps with God. The purpose of KidZone is to partner with parents in teaching and modeling for children the important truths about loving God, His Word, and being a passionate follower of his Son, Jesus.

Zone 45

Zone 45 is an environment made just for our 4th and 5th graders where kids can grow in a relationship with Jesus while also having fun with their friends. The Zone45 Team is equipped to meet our preteens right where they are and connect with them in a way that is relational and safe. This is done though a full production each week that includes fun and interactive praise and worship and engaging hands-on small group Bible study activities that go along with the Bible story. Our small group discussions help kids connect the dots to how to apply what they’ve learned to their lives.

What Can I Expect On My First Visit?
Welcome to Mt. Vernon Church! We’re thrilled to have you here!
When you arrive, please follow the signs to the Kids check-in areas. Both areas are located in our Family Center. If you need assistance, we have our Guest Services team right when you walk in the door and they’ll be happy to help you.

For the safety of all our children, we use a secure check-in system. If your child has any special needs or allergies, please inform our volunteers at check-in. We’re committed to creating a safe and accommodating environment for everyone!

During programming, your kids will enjoy engaging lessons about the gospel in a way that’s easy to understand. They’ll participate in group worship, activities that connect to the lesson—all in a fun and safe atmosphere!
How do I check my child in on Sundays?
We’ll have signs pointing you to the check-in area where one of our Kids volunteers will be available to help. Because of our commitment to safety, every child will need to be checked in and out using our check-in system. If it’s your first visit, we’ll ask for a bit of family information—your full name, your child’s full name, their birthday, your contact information, and any special instructions or allergy information. Once your child has been checked in, you’ll receive corresponding parent and child stickers which will be used to pick your child up after the worship service has ended.
How do you prioritize safety?
We recognize that God has entrusted us with the safety of kids while they’re in our care, and we prioritize their well-being. Each Kids environment is supervised by multiple volunteers who have undergone an extensive onboarding process that includes an application, in-person interview, background check, and policy training. All of our Kids areas are secure. Only parents and approved volunteers are allowed back in the children’s hallways. We also members of our Security Team in or around all Kids environments.
My child has special needs. What steps are taken to make your environments inclusive?
We want our Kids Ministry to reflect the truth of Scripture that there should be no distinction in the body of Christ. As such, our ministry strives to provide an inclusive, gospel-centered environment for children who face unique challenges related to their physical, mental, behavioral, medical, or emotional needs. If you have a child with special needs or would like more information, please reach out to one of our Kids Directors.
