Life Groups

Living out our God-given calling as disciples of Jesus through
biblical community.

At Mt. Vernon, we want to be a church of Life Groups, not just a church with Life Groups. We want to be connected in meaningful relationships as we, together, work out what it means to grow as followers of Christ dedicated to His mission. Life Groups provide the relational environments necessary for biblical discipleship.

Our Purpose

Find Your People.

All followers of Christ are called to be disciples who make disciples. Jesus’ method of discipleship was relational. He taught crowds of hundreds, did life with His 12 disciples, and invested more personally in three men. As we develop in each of the following areas and within each discipleship context, we begin to live out our purpose in our circles of impact. In turn, we become equipped as disciple-makers to walk with others along their spiritual journey and encourage their next steps with Christ.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”

Matthew 28:18-20

Life Group Leaders facilitate biblical community where people can grow in relationships with each other and mature as disciples of Christ. You have a significant role as a leader!
You don’t have to be perfect or a Bible scholar to lead a group. Throughout scripture, God uses regular people as influential leaders for His Kingdom (Moses, Gideon, David, Esther, Mary, the 12 disciples, Paul).
